Tough Start, Uneventful Middle

Today's game certainly didn't go the way we hoped, Brewers fans. The first four innings were a pitcher’s duel, with neither team managing to get on the board. Brice Turang, Jackson Chourio, and William Contreras all struggled to get anything going offensively during their early at-bats. On the other side, the Diamondbacks also found themselves stymied by our pitching, with Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, and Christian Walker all getting shut down in their initial plate appearances. 🥱

Diamondbacks Draw First Blood

The top of the 5th inning saw some costly errors and timely hitting from Arizona. An error by Andruw Monasterio allowed Geraldo Perdomo to reach second and Gabriel Moreno to score, which opened the floodgates. Following this, Ketel Marte's single allowed another run to score. Despite a pitching change to bring in Aaron Ashby, a sacrifice fly by Christian Walker added a third run. Down 3-0, we needed a spark. 😓

Mitchell Provides a Glimmer of Hope

While the bats remained largely cold, Garrett Mitchell gave us something to cheer about in the bottom of the 7th inning by blasting a solo homer to center field! Mitchell's 401-foot shot was our lone offensive highlight of the game, bringing the score to 3-1. His homer came at a time when we were desperate for any sort of rally. 🌟

Late Inning Struggles Seal the Deal

Hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed in the 8th inning. Christian Walker singled, and then Pavin Smith launched a two-run homer off Tyler Ross, extending the Diamondbacks lead to 5-1. This was a backbreaker for us, as our offense failed to mount any serious threats afterward. Isaac Collins and Rhys Hoskins both struck out in pinch-hitting appearances in the 8th. 😔

Final Thoughts

The Brewers ultimately fell 5-1 to the Diamondbacks, with very few bright spots to take away from today's game. The lone exception was Garrett Mitchell's home run, which showed some fight in the squad. We need more consistency from our hitters and fewer mistakes in the field if we're going to bounce back from this tough loss. Let’s keep our heads up and look forward to the next one, Crew! ⚾💪
