Diamondbacks Start Strong
The game against the Padres was promising from the start as our very own Ketel Marte smashed a homer to right-center in the top of the 1st, putting the Diamondbacks on the scoreboard early with a 1-0 lead. This was quickly followed by a powerful solo homer by Jake McCarthy in the 3rd, which put us up 2-0.
Turbulence in the 4th
The trouble began for Arizona in the bottom of the 4th inning when Fernando Tatis Jr. from the Padres hit a grand slam, shifting the momentum and leaving us trailing 5-2. It was tough to watch as the Padres capitalized on our mishaps.
A Fighting Chance
Despite the setback, our team showed resilience in the 8th inning. Tim Tawa and Ildemaro Vargas walked with the bases loaded, bringing home Marte and another run to reduce the deficit to 6-4. The comeback spirit was alive, but ultimately, the Padres managed to hold onto their lead, ending the game with a 7-4 victory. Unfortunately, our late surge wasn't enough to turn the tide.
