A Roller Coaster of a Game
Alright, Twins fans, this one was an emotional roller coaster. We hosted the Braves today and, despite a valiant effort, ended up losing 8-6 in extra innings.
The game had its ups and downs, so let's dive into the action.Early Inning Frustration
In the first couple of innings, both teams struggled to get on the board. The Braves managed to score two runs in the 2nd inning, thanks to a two-run homer by Michael Harris II. On our side, we had Carlos Santana and Ryan Jeffers in scoring positions in the 2nd inning, but Austin Martin struck out looking to leave them stranded. The middle innings were tough as the Braves extended their lead to 4-0 in the 5th inning with a clutch single by Marcell Ozuna, scoring two more runs. Our batters were showing signs of frustration as Royce Lewis struck out swinging to end that inning.
Late Inning Comeback
Our spirits were lifted in the 7th inning when Willi Castro singled to start the rally. Trevor Larnach doubled to bring him home, followed by hits from Matt Wallner and Edouard Julien to bring the score to a close 3-4. By the end of the 8th inning, we managed to tie the game 4-4 with another clutch hit from Larnach that drove in Castro.
Extra Innings Drama
This one went into the 10th inning, and that's where things got crazy. The Braves took a commanding 8-4 lead with hits from Williams, d'Arnaud, and a double from Laureano that scored two more. We showed some fight in the bottom of the inning with Jose Miranda and Trevor Larnach driving in two runs, but it wasn’t enough. The game ended with Matt Wallner striking out swinging. Final score: Braves 8, Twins 6.
Takeaways
While it's disappointing to lose, there were some bright spots. Trevor Larnach had a great game, going 3-for-6 with crucial hits.
