Tough Night for the Mets Against the Braves

Hey Mets fans, what a rough game we had last night against the Braves! The final score was 9-2, and despite our guys' best efforts, we just couldn't keep up with Atlanta's firepower.

Early Innings Struggles

Things were pretty quiet for both teams in the first couple of innings. Francisco Lindor started off strong with a single to center in the bottom of the 1st, but that momentum was quickly stalled by a double play. Golden opportunities like Pete Alonso's double in the 2nd inning, and Tyrone Taylor’s double in the 3rd inning, couldn't be capitalized on. It's like hitting a wall every time! 😕

Big Inning for Atlanta

The Braves broke the stalemate in the 4th inning. After Matt Olson launched a three-run homer, our hopes took a big hit. Then another run scored on a wild pitch by David Peterson, making it 4-0. Not the start we were hoping for!

Pete Alonso tried to get something going in the bottom of the inning with a fly out to right, but the offense remained dormant.

7th Inning Blues

By the 7th inning, it was already tough to watch. Orlando Arcia and Austin Riley both smashed home runs, extending their lead to 7-0. We did manage to get Tyrone Taylor on base with a walk and Ben Gamel with a single, but no runs came from them. It was just one of those nights. 😔

Alonso's Late Spark

Finally, in the 8th inning, something to cheer about! Pete Alonso absolutely crushed a two-run homer to center, scoring Brandon Nimmo. It was great to see the Polar Bear show some power, but it came a little too late with the score now 9-2.

Final Push

We couldn't muster any more offense in the 9th inning. Though Adam Ottavino held it down on the mound, striking out Adam Duvall and Austin Riley, our bats were silent to close out the game. Jeff McNeil, Francisco Alvarez, and Tyrone Taylor each went down swinging.

Looking Forward

It's tough to take a loss like this, but we have to keep our heads up. Our boys have what it takes to bounce back. Let's regroup and come out stronger next game. Let's go Mets! 💪⚾
