Tough Loss in a Heartbreaker

Hey Braves fans, what a tough game today against the Phillies. 😔 Despite a solid start and some fireworks from Matt Olson, we fell short 5-4. Here’s a recap of the game inning by inning.

Early Lead for the Braves

We kicked off the game with a scoreless 1st inning for both teams, but the 2nd inning saw Michael Harris II reach on an infield single and Orlando Arcia drove him home with a double to center, giving us an early 1-0 lead. Charlie Morton kept the Phillies scoreless through the bottom of the 2nd.

Olson Dominates!

In the top of the 3rd, Whit Merrifield reached on a fielding error, setting up Matt Olson to crush a 450-foot homer to center, extending our lead to 3-0! 💪 Olson did it again in the 6th inning with another monster homer, putting us up 4-0. 🏆

Phillies Fight Back

Unfortunately, the Phillies responded in the bottom of the 6th. After Nick Castellanos singled and J.T. Realmuto followed with another single, Brandon Marsh hit a three-run homer to bring them close at 4-3. Our bullpen then saw Justin Bummer come in to get us out of the inning.

Heartbreak in the 7th

The game took a turn for the worse in the 7th. After Trea Turner reached base and moved to second on a sacrifice by Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm grounded out, advancing Turner to third. Nick Castellanos then hit a crucial homer to center off Clay Holmes, bringing the score to 5-4 Phillies. 😓

Closing Struggles

In the 8th inning, we had a chance to rally. Travis d'Arnaud was hit by a pitch, but we just couldn’t capitalize. Adam Duvall came in to pinch run, but both Ramon Laureano and Michael Harris II struck out.

We held the Phillies scoreless in the bottom of the 8th, thanks to some tight defense, but couldn’t make the magic happen in the 9th inning. The Phillies’ Hoffman secured the final outs to seal our fate.

Final Thoughts

It's a tough pill to swallow losing a close one, but let’s not forget the solid performances by Matt Olson and Orlando Arcia. There’s always the next game to look forward to! Keep your heads up, #BravesCountry, and let's get 'em next time! 🔥

Go Braves! 💙❤️
