Tough Loss for the O's Against the Astros

Last night's game against the Astros was a tough one for our Baltimore Orioles. Despite a promising start, our O's couldn't keep up against Houston, ultimately falling 1-5. 😔

Strong Start, Early Hopes

In the top of the 1st inning, we saw Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman exhibiting patience at the plate and drawing walks. Unfortunately, Henderson was caught stealing, and the inning ended with Ryan O'Hearn and Ryan Mountcastle flying out. It was a frustrating start, but at least we managed to get on base early.

Westburg's Homer Gives Us a Lead

Our spirits were lifted in the top of the 2nd inning when Jordan Westburg sent a solo shot to left-center, giving us a 1-0 lead. What a moment! 🎉 Unfortunately, the Astros retaliated quickly, with Yainer Diaz tripling and scoring off Mauricio Dubón's sacrifice fly, leveling the game at 1-1.

The Astros Pull Ahead

The bottom of the 3rd was where things started to go south. After allowing Chas McCormick to reach on a single, Jose Altuve struck out but McCormick stole second. Alex Bregman struck out too, but Yordan Alvarez followed up with a two-run homer to center field. Suddenly, we were down 1-3.

In the bottom of the 5th, McCormick struck again with another solo home run, extending their lead to 4-1.

Struggles to Capitalize

We had our chances. Cedric Mullins tripled in the top of the 7th inning, but Colton Cowser and Ramón Urías couldn't bring him home. Mullins' hit should have been a rallying point, but unfortunately, it ended in vain.

Final Blow in the 8th

The final nail in the coffin came in the bottom of the 8th when McCormick homered for the second time, sealing the game at 5-1. We couldn't get anything going in the top of the 9th, with Mountcastle, Santander, and Westburg all going down in order.

Looking Ahead

It's always tough to see our O's fall, but let's keep our heads up! Westburg showed some power, and Mullins continues to be a bright spot in our lineup. We'll bounce back and fight on. Go O's! ⚾🧡
