Tough Loss in a Nail-Biter Against the Mets 😔

Ladies and gents, the Orioles played with heart tonight but fell just short in a tense game against the Mets, finishing with a close 3-4 defeat. Let's dive into the action-packed innings that had us on the edge of our seats!

Early Struggles, Mets Capitalize

The first inning started with a promising walk by Austin Slater, but unfortunately, a double play quickly deflated our momentum. Adley Rutschman grounded into a double play, and Gunnar Henderson struck out swinging. The bottom half saw a rough patch for us as the Mets' J.D. Martinez homered, bringing in Mark Vientos to put the Mets up 2-0.

Orioles Struggle to Find Momentum

Our bats were silent in the second inning, and although Colton Cowser managed a single in the third, he was left stranded. Even with Ryan Mountcastle's hit in the fourth, we couldn't bring any runs home. The Mets extended their lead to 3-0 in the fourth with a timely single by Tyrone Taylor.

The Fight Back Begins 💪

Finally, some action in the fifth! Ramon Urias doubled and advanced to third on a pickoff error, setting up Jackson Holliday to ground out but bring Urias home. We were on the board, 3-1. Despite some promising hits and aggressive baserunning, the Mets' defense held strong.

Uplifting Moments in the 7th Inning

The seventh inning brought us some much-needed excitement. Ryan Mountcastle doubled and later scored on a balk. Then, Ramon Urias unleashed a monster homer to center, tying the score at 3-3. We were back in it, and hope was alive!

Heartbreak in the 9th 😢

The game came down to its final moments. Despite a strong showing from our relief pitchers, the Mets held us in the 8th and 9th innings. The game had a dramatic ending when Mets' Francisco Alvarez hit a walk-off homer, sealing their victory at 4-3.

Conclusion

It was a hard-fought game with flashes of brilliance, especially in the seventh inning. Though it ended in a tough loss, there's a lot to be proud of for our Orioles. We'll come back stronger next game 🟠⚫. Keep your heads up, Orioles fans! On to the next one!
