Tough Loss in the Bronx
Hey O's fans, it was a frustrating night in the Bronx as the Yankees came out on top with a 6-1 victory. The game started quietly for us, with Jackson Holliday and Jordan Westburg unable to find their rhythm early on. Gunnar Henderson managed to draw a walk, but the first inning ended without us getting any runs on the board. Unfortunately, the Yankees were able to capitalize on their opportunities, thanks to a homer by Aaron Judge.
Yankees Take Control
In the second inning, the Yankees continued to extend their lead with back-to-back homers by Giancarlo Stanton and Ryan McMahon. The Orioles struggled to respond at the plate throughout the early innings, leaving us playing catch-up. Gunnar Henderson did show some spark with a double in the fourth, but unfortunately, it went without support from the rest of the lineup. The fifth inning was particularly tough as the Yankees tacked on three more runs.
A Glimmer of Hope
The highlight of the night came in the eighth inning when Coby Mayo finally got us on the board with a solo home run to left center, giving O's fans something to cheer about. Although the deficit was too great to overcome, it was good to see some fight in the lineup. The pitching staff had their moments too, with relievers holding the Yankees scoreless in the closing innings. However, our bats couldn’t muster any more runs to close the gap.Looking Forward
While it’s never fun to lose to the Yankees, especially by such a margin, we know our O's can bounce back. Onwards and upwards, Orioles fans! Let's look forward to the next game and support our boys through thick and thin. Let's go O's!
