The Rockies emerged victorious against the Cubs with a nail-biting 6-5 win in extra innings. This game was a testament to our team's resilience and never-give-up attitude. Let's dive into the game highlights.Early Struggles for the Rockies
The game started off slow for our Rockies. In the top of the 1st inning, the Cubs managed to score their first run with a double from Seiya Suzuki, bringing Dansby Swanson home. Our batting lineup struggled early, with Charlie Blackmon, Ezequiel Tovar, and Brenton Doyle all unable to get us on the board.
The Cubs Extend Their Lead
The Cubs added another run to the board in the 4th inning with a solo homer from Cody Bellinger. Things looked bleak when they further increased their lead to 3-1 in the 7th inning thanks to Pete Crow-Armstrong's home run. However, our team showed signs of life with a home run by Michael Toglia in the bottom of the 7th!
Fighting Back
In the bottom of the 6th, Brenton Doyle managed to bring home Aaron Schunk with a sacrifice fly, getting us our first run. Fast forward to the 8th inning, Charlie Blackmon hit a crucial double and Doyle once again delivered with another sacrifice fly to score Blackmon, narrowing the gap to 4-3.
Late-Inning Drama
The Cubs put pressure on us by scoring another run in the top of the 9th, making it 5-3. But what followed was pure magic! In the bottom of the 9th, with two outs, Sam Hilliard came in as a pinch hitter and smashed a two-run homer, tying the game at 5-5!
Extra-Inning Heroics
Coming into the 10th inning, Tyler Kinley held the Cubs scoreless, giving us a chance to win it. In the bottom of the 10th with runners on first and third, Brenton Doyle came through with a walk-off single, driving in Aaron Schunk for the winning run!
