Heartbreaker in Denver: Cubs Fall to Rockies in Extras

Hey Cubs fans, what a tough pill to swallow tonight 😢. In a game where we had so many chances, the Rockies managed to claw back and take it in the 10th, 6-5.

Early Lead with Suzuki's Double

We started strong with Seiya Suzuki doubling to center in the first, scoring Dansby Swanson. Cody Bellinger added to the score with a solo homer in the 4th, giving us a 2-0 lead.

Cubs Pitching Keeping Us in It

Our pitchers were on point early! They kept the Rockies scoreless through the first five innings. Jameson Taillon was dealing. We had a couple of scares, but solid defense and clutch pitching maintained our slim lead.

Rockies Start to Rally

In the 6th, the Rockies finally got on the board with a sacrifice fly by Doyle. They added another run in the 7th with a homer by Toglia. Despite a homer from Pete Crow-Armstrong in the 7th and another run in the 8th, the Rockies managed to chip away.

Nail-Biting 9th Inning

Talk about tension! Crow-Armstrong scored on a single by Ian Happ, pushing our lead to 5-3. But Hilliard's dramatic 2-run homer tied the game in the bottom of the 9th, sending it to extras.

Extra Innings Heartbreak

In the 10th, neither Isaac Paredes, Michael Busch, nor Nico Hoerner could get on base 🥺. The Rockies capitalized with Doyle's walk-off single, bringing Schunk home to end the game.

Final Thoughts

It's a gut-wrenching loss, Cubs fans. But let's not lose hope! Plenty of baseball left and opportunities for redemption. Till next time, keep the faith! 💙⚾
