Game Chicago Cubs @ Houston Astros (June 29th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Tough Day for the Cubs' Offense

Cubbies, today was a challenging day at Minute Maid Park as we faced off against the Houston Astros. Our boys seemed to struggle to find any traction at the plate. Despite a gutsy effort, the Cubs fell to the Astros 2-0, as Houston's pitching staff kept us in check all game long. The bats were quiet, with only a couple of promising moments that unfortunately didn't flip to our side.

Pitching and Missed Opportunities

Ian Happ started us off but unfortunately struck out swinging, setting a tough tone for the Cubs offense. One of the more promising moments was Kyle Tucker doubling to right in the first inning, but we couldn't capitalize. Throughout the game, Dansby Swanson showed patience by drawing two walks, but other than that, our bats struggled.

In the top of the 7th, Carson Kelly showed some life with a double to left as he worked hard to get on base — a highlight in our offense that we hope to see more of in future games.

Heartbreak in the 5th

The turning point of the game came in the bottom of the 5th when the Astros struck gold. After managing to keep things scoreless, Jose Altuve crushed our hopes with a two-run homer that was enough for Houston to seal the win. Our relief pitching did a commendable job keeping it tight after that, with Ryan Brasier coming in to minimize further damage.

Looking Ahead

Hopefully, the Cubs can regroup and find that offensive spark we had earlier in the season. Let's rally behind our team and look ahead as we continue to battle through the rest of this series. We've got the love of Cubs Nation behind us, and brighter days at the plate are sure to come. Here's to seeing our beloved team bounce back strong! 💙⚾️ Go Cubs Go!
