Tough Loss for the Royals Against the Cubs

Well, Royals fans, it was a roller coaster of emotions at Kauffman Stadium today, but unfortunately, we came up short. The final score was 9-4 in favor of the Cubs. Let's break down the action. 🥲

A Rocky Start

The game began with the Cubs getting on the board early. Seiya Suzuki smacked a 420-feet homer to center, bringing home Michael Busch who had walked. That put us at a 2-0 deficit right off the bat, pun intended.

Our boys had a tough time getting started against Cubs’ pitcher Hector Neris. Maikel Garcia, Bobby Witt Jr., and Vinnie Pasquantino were all retired in order in the bottom of the 1st.

Renfroe's Monster Hit

In the bottom of the 2nd, we saw some sparks! Hunter Renfroe sent a mammoth 416-feet homer to left-center, cutting the deficit to 1-2. Garrett Hampson followed with a double, but unfortunately, the rally ended there.

Clawing Back in the 6th

In the bottom of the 6th, things finally started to heat up for our Royals. Maikel Garcia singled to right to get things rolling. Bobby Witt Jr. then doubled to left, scoring Garcia and bringing us to 2-3.

Salvador Perez and Freddy Fermin kept the momentum going, with Perez scoring and Fermin moving to third on a single by Renfroe. With that, we had the lead! 🤩 Our beloved boys gave us hope with a score of 4-3!

Heartbreak in the 7th

Our joy was short-lived, as the Cubs came back swinging in the top of the 7th. Patrick Wisdom hit a crushing 430-feet homer that brought in three more runs for the Cubs, giving them a 7-4 lead. 😞

Sealing the Deal in the 9th

The Cubs added two more insurance runs in the top of the 9th, with David Bote and Nico Hoerner driving in runs to bury us further at 9-4.

Although Hunter Renfroe tried to ignite a last-minute rally with a single in the bottom of the 9th, it just wasn't enough.

Final Thoughts

A tough loss indeed, but our Royals showed flashes of brilliance. Here’s hoping we can bounce back in our next matchup. Keep your heads up, Royals fans; there’s always another game! 💙⚾

Let's keep cheering and supporting our boys in blue! Go Royals! 🌟
