The Cubs and Dodgers faced off in a thrilling game, starting with some intense pitching and defense. In the 1st inning, both teams struggled to get on base, with the Cubs' Ian Happ, Dansby Swanson, and Seiya Suzuki each striking out. Isaac Paredes got us rolling in the 2nd inning with a single to left, and soon after, Nico Hoerner followed up with another single to center. This set the stage for Pete Crow-Armstrong, who reached on an infield single, scoring Paredes and giving us the early lead. However, the Dodgers responded quickly with Tommy Edman hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the 2nd, leveling the score.Edman Homers Again
Both teams continued to struggle with strikeouts but managed to hold each other scoreless through the 3rd and into the 4th. Unfortunately, Edman struck again, homering to center in the bottom of the 4th, pushing the Dodgers ahead 2-1.Dodgers Extend Lead
The Dodgers expanded their lead in the 5th inning with Max Muncy hitting a homer to right center. Our bats remained cold, and we couldn't answer back immediately, leaving the score at 3-1 through the middle of the game.A Game-Changing 8th Inning for the Cubs
The real magic happened in the top of the 8th inning. Ian Happ walked to lead things off, setting up a rally. A critical error by the Dodgers' catcher on a throw allowed Dansby Swanson to reach base safely, and Seiya Suzuki came through with a single to center, scoring Happ and Swanson. Errors continued to plague the Dodgers, and we capitalized with Michael Busch and Hoerner driving in more runs, turning the tide to a 6-3 lead for the Cubs.Lockdown Defense for the Win
In the final innings, our bullpen was rock solid. Keegan Thompson, Brendon Little, and Brad Wieck closed out the game, preventing any Dodgers' comeback attempt. The Cubs' defense was on fire, and despite a couple of walks in the bottom of the 9th, the game ended 6-3 in favor of the Cubs.Final Thoughts
