Cubs Edge Out Marlins in 6-3 Showdown!

What a game for us Cubs fans! 🎉 Our boys pulled off a solid 6-3 win against the Marlins last night, showing off both power and some clutch moments. Let's recap this thrilling game where we had a bit of everything!

Early Inning Tensions

In the first inning, we kicked things off with a single by Ian Happ. Unfortunately, we couldn’t drive him in and left him stranded on third. The Marlins also failed to score, and the game remained scoreless.

The second inning saw the Marlins draw the first blood. Connor Norby doubled off, and Derek Hill grounded out to bring Norby home. The Marlins grabbed an early 1-0 lead.

Crow-Armstrong's Spark and Happ's Big Bat

The third inning was where it got interesting for us. Pete Crow-Armstrong lit up the field with an inside-the-park home run! 🏃‍♂️💨 Miguel Amaya then reached base on an infield single, and Happ crushed a two-run homer to center field, putting the Cubs up 3-1.

The Marlins added another run in their half of the inning, courtesy of a couple of singles. But our lead held firm at 3-2.

Mid-Inning Drama and Clutch Pitches

Although the Marlins managed to tie the game at 3-3 with a bases-loaded walk in the 5th inning, our bullpen kept the situation in control. Great relief work by our pitchers, including Drew Smyly and Ben Hodge, kept the Marlins from gaining further ground.

Cubs Pull Ahead

Top of the 8th was where we grabbed the momentum back. Seiya Suzuki singled and eventually scored on Isaac Paredes' double. We moved ahead 4-3, and it felt like we were in control from that point onward.

More insurance came in the 9th inning when Amaya hit a two-run homer, driving in Crow-Armstrong, after he led the inning with a single. This extended our lead to 6-3 and put the game out of reach for the Marlins.

Locking Down the Win

Props to our closer, Manuel López, who shut the door in the 9th inning. He struck out two hitters and got the final out to seal the victory for us.

What a game! Our boys showed resilience, clutch hitting, and solid pitching to come out on top. On to the next one Cubs fans! 🐻⬇️
