Game Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers (June 29th, 2024)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Cubs Start Strong with Michael Busch Homer

🤩 What a way to kick off the game! In the top of the 1st inning, Nico Hoerner set the tone with a single to left. Then, Michael Busch absolutely crushed a home run to center, bringing Hoerner home with him, making it 2-0 Cubs! 🐻⚾Cody Bellinger also managed to get on base with a walk and advanced to second on a balk, but we couldn't capitalize further as Seiya Suzuki popped out, Ian Happ grounded out, and Christopher Morel struck out.

Brewers Tie it Up, But We React Quickly

The Brewers managed to level things in the bottom of the 3rd inning with Brice Turang and William Contreras causing some trouble. Turang bunted to score Sal Frelick, and Contreras singled to center to bring in Andruw Monasterio. But we answered right back in the top of the 4th! Happ walked and advanced to third on a single by Morel. Pete Crow-Armstrong then singled to right, bringing Happ home to make it 3-2 Cubs! 😎

Brewers Tie Again, But Happ Heroics in the 8th!

The Brewers refused to let up, tying the game again in the bottom of the 4th when Frelick grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Jackson Chourio. The game was tight, but Ian Happ was having none of it. In the top of the 8th inning, with Suzuki on base after a walk, Happ hammered a homer to right-center, giving the Cubs a 5-3 lead! 🚀😀

Closing the Door in the 9th

It got a bit tense in the bottom of the 9th when Rhys Hoskins singled and Frelick got on base, but our bullpen shut it down! Jake Bauers and Tyler Black tried to keep the Brewers alive, but Turang's strikeout sealed their fate. Ricky Neris did a fantastic job closing the game. Final score: Cubs 5, Brewers 3! 🐻🎉

Conclusion

What a game! Big shoutout to Michael Busch for that early homer and Ian Happ for his clutch hit in the 8th. Our pitchers also did a stellar job holding the Brewers at bay. Great team effort from everyone! Go Cubs Go! 🐻💙
