A Slow Start for the Cubs
The game kicked off with our boys at the plate, but it wasn't the start we hoped for. Nico Hoerner and Michael Busch both struck out swinging. Cody Bellinger managed to draw a walk, giving us some hope, but Seiya Suzuki's line out to center ended the inning without a run.Second Inning Blues
Things got a bit rough in the second inning. Jorge Soler singled to left for the Giants, which set the stage for some scoring. After a walk and another single, the Giants managed to bring in two runs, courtesy of a single by Michael Conforto and a sacrifice fly by David Villar. In the top of the third inning, Nico Hoerner showed off his speed by drawing a walk and then stealing second. Michael Busch came through with a crucial single to right, allowing Hoerner to score!

The fourth and fifth innings saw us put runners on base but fail to bring them home. Cody Bellinger and Michael Busch continued to make solid contact, but we couldn't capitalize. The Giants' bullpen, including key relievers Hjelle and Ta. Rogers, kept our hitters at bay.
Missed Opportunities
We had another chance to score in the sixth inning when Christopher Morel walked. Unfortunately, he was caught stealing second, ending any potential rally. The game remained tight, with the score holding at 2-1 through the seventh inning.Giants Extend Lead
The eighth inning was a tough pill to swallow. The Giants capitalized on some key hits, including a single by Jorge Soler and a two-run single by Matt Chapman. This pushed their lead to 5-1, putting us in a hefty deficit going into the ninth.Ninth Inning Heartbreak
Our last shot at a comeback fell flat. Giants' closer Doval made quick work of our lineup, securing outs from Seiya Suzuki, Ian Happ, and Christopher Morel. And just like that, we fell to the Giants with a final score of 1-5.
Final Thoughts
Despite the loss, there were some bright spots. Nico Hoerner was aggressive on the basepaths, and Michael Busch delivered with an RBI single. With some clutch hitting and sharper defense, the Cubs can bounce back in the next game. Keep the faith, Cubs fans!
