Explosive Start Despite Early Setbacks
Early on, it seemed like we might be in for a long night. After a silent first inning from both sides, the bottom of the second provided a spark. Willson Contreras got things rolling with a single to center, setting the stage for Lars Nootbaar, who launched a 412-foot homer to right-center that had the crowd roaring! This impressive hit gave us an early 2-0 lead.A Battle of Big Hits
The third inning saw a Cubs resurgence, including a homer by Seiya Suzuki, which unfortunately put them ahead at 5-2. But in true Cardinals fashion, we responded quickly in the bottom half. Masyn Winn hit a two-run homer, and the momentum continued to swing in our favor. Not to be outdone, Nolan Gorman unleashed a monstrous 432-foot homer in the fourth to equalize, setting the score at 5-5. Shortly after, Winn doubled, bringing two crucial runs home to clinch an 8-5 lead.A Wild Second Half
As the game advanced, the tension grew. The Cubs closed the gap to 8-7 with a two-run homer from Nico Hoerner in the sixth. Our pitching staff, including relievers Steven Matz, Giovanny Gallegos, and Ryan Helsley, faced constant pressure but displayed nerves of steel, managing to keep the Cubs at bay in the crucial closing innings. The ninth inning was especially intense, but Helsley closed it out with precision and gave us all a reason to rejoice.

Takeaways
Our boys demonstrated resilience and flair tonight. While it was a hard-fought victory, every fan leaving the stadium knew they had witnessed a classic battle. Kudos to Lars Nootbaar and Masyn Winn for their critical contributions. Let’s carry this momentum forward and keep rallying for more wins! Go Cards!
