Cubs Claim Victory Over Nationals with 5-3 Win! 🐻🧢

Hey Cubs fans, we grabbed a hearty win against the Nationals with a final score of 5-3! Here’s a recap to relish:

First Inning – Quiet Start

Both teams had a silent start. Our bats were cold early as Ian Happ, Dansby Swanson, and Seiya Suzuki couldn't find their way on base. Nationals also went down quickly without a fight, leaving the score at 0-0.

Second Inning – Nationals Strike First

We saw some action in the second inning. Isaac Paredes walked and made it to third, but we couldn’t capitalize. The Nats struck first as Joey Gallo drove in Jose Tena to take a 1-0 lead. 😤

Third Inning – Struggles Continue

The third inning was another quiet one for us. Nationals’ pitcher held us in check, and our hitters went down in order again. The Nats didn't add to their lead, so it stayed 1-0.

Fourth Inning – Nats Extend Lead

In the fourth, Andres Chaparro homered, making it 2-0. Our guys were still finding it difficult to get on base as we went down in order once again.

Fifth Inning – Cubs’ Big Break!

Finally, the breakthrough! Paredes, Michael Busch, and Nico Hoerner loaded the bases. Pete Crow-Armstrong's sac fly scored Paredes. Then, a crazy error by Nationals’ center fielder allowed Christian Bethancourt to score and we found ourselves ahead 3-2. Swanson came through clutch with a double, scoring Bethancourt to make it 4-2!

Fifth Inning Continued – Nationals Fight Back

Nationals managed to get a run back with Jacob Young scoring on a wild pitch after his double, closing our lead to 4-3.

Seventh Inning – We Add Another Run!

Hoerner led off the seventh with a single, later scoring on a throwing error by the catcher Drew Millas, extending our lead to 5-3!

Eighth & Ninth Inning – Solid Defense

Our bullpen shined in the eighth and ninth. Adbert Alzolay, and Hodge pitched brilliantly, and our defense locked it down. Millas had a single for the Nats, but Wood struck out to end the game, giving us the W!

Conclusion – Great Team Effort!

It was an all-around team effort. Special shout-out to Isaac Paredes for the hustle and Carlos from the bullpen for the lock-down pitching. Let’s keep this momentum going, Cubs fans! Until next time, Go Cubs Go! 💙⚾🐻
