Tough Day at the Plate

It was a rough outing for our boys, as the White Sox couldn't get their bats going against the Padres. Starting in the top of the 1st, we saw Miguel Vargas ground out to third, Luis Robert Jr. fly out to right, and Andrew Vaughn struck out looking. It was the start of a challenging game for the White Sox offense.

Padres Take the Lead Early

The bottom of the 2nd inning was a tough one for us. After a single by Jackson Merrill, Xander Bogaerts unleashed a 426-foot homer to left center field, putting the Padres up 2-0 early. The Padres continued to keep the pressure on throughout the game.

White Sox Show Some Life

The top of the 6th showed a glimmer of hope. Luis Robert Jr. was hit by a pitch, and Andrew Vaughn walked. Lenyn Sosa then singled to left, driving in Robert Jr. and getting the White Sox on the board at 4-1. However, we couldn't capitalize further as Bryan Ramos grounded out and Dominic Fletcher struck out to end our scoring threat.

Final Push Falls Short

In the top of the 8th, the White Sox again attempted a comeback. Vargas walked, Robert Jr. singled, and Sosa was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Ramos walked and brought in a run, making it 4-2. But our efforts were cut short by a double play from Fletcher. The Padres then extended their lead with a two-run homer by Elias Díaz in the bottom of the 8th, making it 6-2.

Final Moments

The top of the 9th brought the last chance. Robinson managed a single, and Vargas walked, but Robert Jr. struck out swinging to end the game. Final score: Padres 6, White Sox 2. We'll regroup and look forward to the next game. Keep faith, White Sox Nation! 🌪️⚾
