Missed Opportunities and a Tough Loss in Extra Innings

Fellow Reds fans, it was a heartbreaker of a night against the Mets. Despite some thrilling moments, we fell short in a 4-6 loss in 10 innings. Let's go through the details.

Solid Start, but Mets Take Early Lead

The game began with our lineup having a rough time against the Mets' pitcher. Jonathan India flied out, Elly De La Cruz grounded out, and Tyler Stephenson struck out swinging, ending the top of the 1st quickly. On the other side, we saw Mark Vientos hit a two-run homer after Francisco Lindor singled, putting the Mets up 2-0.

De La Cruz Brings Us Back

Our man Elly De La Cruz brought us right back into the game in the top of the 4th inning with a massive 413-foot homer to center, driving in India and tying the score at 2-2. 🎉 Williamson did a phenomenal job on the mound after relieving Cruz, keeping the Mets' bats quiet until the bottom of the 6th.

New York Pulls Ahead, TJ Friedl Answers Back

In the 6th inning, the Mets took back the lead. Jose Iglesias and J.D. Martinez both drove in runs, making it 4-2. But we didn't flinch! TJ Friedl came through with a clutch 394-foot homer to right field in the 7th inning, driving in Spencer Steer and tying the game once again at 4-4. 💪

Stalemate and Extra Innings Drama

Neither team could break the tie in regulation, leading us to extra innings. Our bullpen held strong thanks to Santillan and Wilson, but ultimately, it was Vientos' second homer of the night in the bottom of the 10th that sealed the deal for the Mets at 6-4. It's a tough loss, but we fought hard till the end.

Final Thoughts

While it wasn't the result we wanted, there were promising signs, especially the performances by De La Cruz and Friedl. Let's carry that fighting spirit into the next game. Go Reds! 🔴⚾
