Tough Loss for the Reds Against the Mariners
Hey fellow Reds fans, last night’s game was a tough one for our squad as we went down 1-5 to the Mariners in Seattle. While there were some moments of brilliance, it wasn’t enough to secure the win. Let’s dive into what went down.Early Promise Dissolves as Mariners Rally
The game started off strong for the Reds, with our pitching holding the Mariners scoreless through the first inning. Both teams showed tight defense, with the score at 0-0. Heading into the 2nd, our hopes skyrocketed as Elly De La Cruz blasted a homer to right center, giving us a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, that was the peak of our joy for the evening.Seattle answered back swiftly, tying the game in the bottom of the 2nd with a home run by Cal Raleigh. Despite solid pitching and defense on our side, the Mariners found their rhythm in the 7th inning, hammering in four more runs. The highlight for Seattle was Josh Rojas stepping in and sending one deep to right field, truly turning the tide against us.
A Struggle at the Plate
Offensively, we struggled to find our footing against the Mariners’ pitching. After De La Cruz's homer, we were kept at bay, managing no more runs for the rest of the game. It wasn’t for lack of trying; we just couldn’t seem to crack their pitchers, who had our number tonight, striking out many of our key hitters in crucial moments.Jonathan India and Nick Martini both faced tough nights, unable to ignite the spark we desperately needed. Our bats were quiet, and opportunities to score were left on the table, ultimately leading to our downfall in this matchup.
