Reds Battle Hard but Fall Short in Extra Innings
Reds Nation, what a rollercoaster of a game we witnessed today!
Early Struggles and Mid-Game Turnaround
The game didn't start in our favor, as the Cardinals quickly took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a homer by Alec Burleson. Our boys showed resilience though, with Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz leading the mid-game offensive push. McLain's single in the 3rd put us on the board, followed by a magical moment in the 7th when De La Cruz launched a towering 435-foot homer to center field, giving us a 4-2 lead!
Nail-Biting Finish in Extra Innings
In the 9th, things got tense as Nolan Arenado homered to level the score at 5-5, forcing the game into extra innings. As heart-wrenching as it was, we had our chances. Spencer Steer managed to get to third on a wild pitch in the 11th, but we couldn't capitalize. The Cardinals found the winning run in the bottom of the 11th with Yohel Pozo's single.Player Highlights
Despite the loss, there were many positives! Elly De La Cruz had an electrifying performance with his triple and homer. Matt McLain was stellar with crucial hits and defensive plays.
