Tough Game for the Reds

Well, Reds fans, it was a tough one to watch as we faced off against the Cardinals and couldn’t get anything going offensively. The game ended in a 0-2 loss for us, and it felt like we were always playing catch-up but never really had the momentum.

Pitching Duel Early On

Both teams started off with solid pitching. Our bats couldn’t find their rhythm as Jonathan India struck out to start the game, followed by Elly De La Cruz flying out and Jeimer Candelario managing to walk but then being stranded as Spencer Steer lined out to left.

On the flip side, Hunter Greene kept the Cardinals in check early on, but we missed key opportunities to grab the game's momentum.

Struggles with Runners in Scoring Position

Our batting lineup couldn’t capitalize on the few chances we had. For instance, in the top of the 3rd inning, India hit a double but was left hanging as De La Cruz flew out to center field to end the inning 😓. It seemed like every time we had a glimmer of hope, it was quickly extinguished.

Cardinals Breakthrough

The Cardinals managed to score in the bottom of the 5th inning when a sequence of singles and a wild pitch allowed them to take a 1-0 lead. Then in the bottom of the 6th, a double by Masyn Winn brought in another run, making it 2-0. Our pitching change with Cruz couldn’t stop their momentum, and this is where the game slipped away from us.

Couldn’t Find the Spark

Throughout the game, it felt like we were just one hit away from turning things around. Stuart Fairchild had a single and even stole second in the 5th inning, but we just couldn’t find that clutch hit.

Late game substitutions like Nick Martini, Santiago Espinal, and Levi Jordan didn’t give us the spark we needed.

Final Inning Heartbreak

The top of the 9th inning summed up our night perfectly: De La Cruz, Candelario, and Steer all struck out against Ryan Helsley to end the game. We couldn't help but feel deflated by the lack of offensive production.

Looking Forward

While it’s frustrating to drop this one to the Cardinals, especially with a scoreless effort from our side, hope isn't lost. We've got a talented squad, and there were some promising signs, especially from our pitching.

Let’s keep our heads up and look forward to the next game! Go Reds! ❤️⚾
