Tough Day for the Cardinals
Well, Cardinals fans, it was a tough day at Busch Stadium as we couldn't pull through against the Reds, ending with a 3-0 loss.
Let's dive into the game highlights and see what went down.Missed Opportunities Early On
We had a strong start with Brendan Donovan singling to right, followed by Paul Goldschmidt's double to left in the first inning. But unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalize on those chances. Nolan Arenado struck out swinging, leaving Goldy stranded on base.Defense Holding Strong
Our pitching and defense were solid through the early innings. Tyler Stephenson, TJ Friedl, and Santiago Espinal all struggled against our pitchers in the top of the 1st. Props to the defense for keeping us in the game!
Mid-Game Struggles
Things started to wobble in the 5th inning. After Elly De La Cruz stole second and third, Friedl drove both him and Jonathan India home, putting the Reds on the board. Another RBI from Ty France made it 3-0. Despite our efforts, we couldn’t stop them from scoring.Coming Close But Falling Short
Our boys tried to bounce back in the 6th. Donovan managed to get on base again with an infield single and Goldschmidt walked, but Arenado and Lars Nootbaar couldn’t take us home.Final Push in the 9th
The bottom of the 9th had us all on the edge of our seats. Goldschmidt and Arenado both singled, and Nootbaar walked to load the bases. Yet, a truly heartbreaking finish as Jordan Walker, Thomas Saggese, and pinch-hitter Matt Carpenter all struck out, sealing our fate.Looking Ahead
