Another Tough Day at the Office

Well, Reds fans, it's another one of those days where our bats just couldn't get going 😞. The Rays shut us out 4-0, and boy, was it frustrating to watch.

A Rough Start

In the top of the 1st inning, we saw our boys go down in order with Jonathan India, Elly De La Cruz, and Spencer Steer unable to make any noise against the Rays' pitching. The bottom half didn't do much for the Rays either, except for a double by Brandon Lowe, but luckily, no damage done.

Rays Strike First

In the 2nd inning, Curtis Mead singled to get things started for Tampa Bay. After a walk to Jonny DeLuca, a sacrifice bunt moved runners to second and third. Then, Jose Siri grounded into a fielder's choice to bring in the first run. Oh, and then he got picked off, which felt like a small win for us but man, we were down 1-0 by the end of the inning.

Missed Opportunities

Noelvi Marte tried to get something going for us in the 3rd with an infield single, but he was caught stealing. Will Benson striking out looking was just the icing on the cake of a frustrating inning.

In the 4th, Steer and TJ Friedl managed to get on base, but Jeimer Candelario's line out ended the inning without any runs. Close but no cigar.

The Backbreaker Inning

The bottom of the 5th was painful to watch as Alex Jackson and Yandy Diaz hit back-to-back homers making it 3-0. To add salt to the wound, Amed Rosario doubled and then scored on another Brandon Lowe double. Just like that, it was 4-0, and our hopes were dashed.

The Silent Bats Continued

We went down in order in the 6th and 7th innings. Every time we got runners on base, we couldn't find that timely hit. Jake Fraley struck out a couple of times, and India grounded into a double play to end the 8th. We had a few baserunners, but it was just one of those nights where nothing went our way.

Last Chance Drama? Not So Much

Heading into the 9th, the Rays brought in Colin Poche. De La Cruz grounded out, but Steer walked to give us a sliver of hope. Friedl flied out, and while Steer advanced to second on fielder's indifference, Candelario grounded out to end the game.

🏟️ Final Score: Reds 0, Rays 4

We tip our caps to the Rays, but let's wipe this one from memory and come back stronger in the next game! Keep the faith, Reds Nation! 💪🔴⚾
