Tough Loss for the Royals
Hey Royals fans, yesterday's game against the Cleveland Guardians ended in a disappointing 7-1 loss for our team. Let's go through the game recap and see where things went sideways.Early Innings
The game started quietly, with both teams failing to score in the first inning. We saw a good hit by Bobby Witt Jr., but sadly, no runs came from it. It wasn’t until the top of the 2nd that the Guardians drew first blood with a sacrifice fly by Rocchio, bringing Brennan home.
Missed Opportunities
The Royals had some opportunities to put runs on the board. In the second inning, Freddy Fermin managed a walk, but Maikel Garcia and Kyle Isbel couldn't drive him home. It was in the 5th inning where the Guardians extended their lead to 2-0 through some well-placed hits.Middle of the Game
A glimmer of hope shone in the 6th inning when Tommy Pham doubled and eventually scored thanks to a sacrifice fly by Paul DeJong. That put us on the board, making it 2-1. Unfortunately, that was the only run we managed for the game. The Guardians countered right away with a two-run homer by Rocchio in the 7th, which put the game largely out of reach.
Guardians Pull Away
The 8th inning was the nail in the coffin. The Guardians loaded the bases, and Rocchio walked to bring a run home. Kwan then singled, bringing in two more runs to make it 7-1. Ouch.Last Ditch Efforts
In the bottom of the 8th and 9th innings, the Royals tried to mount a comeback but were unsuccessful. Salvador Perez managed a single, and we saw Adam Frazier take a hit-by-pitch, but nothing came of it. The game closed with a final score of 7-1 in favor of Cleveland.Looking Ahead
