Rockies Defeat Mets 8-5 in a Thrilling Showdown!
Hey Rockies fans! What a game we had against the Mets tonight! Our team came out swinging and showed some real resilience.
Tovar and Toglia Shine Early!
The game started off strong for the Rockies with Charlie Blackmon singling to center, followed by a 431-foot homer from Ezequiel Tovar to give us an early 2-0 lead! Ryan McMahon and Brenton Doyle couldn't follow up, but those two runs set the tone.
Mets Respond in the Fourth Inning
The Mets made a comeback with a two-run homer from Pete Alonso, tying the game at 2-2. An infield single, a couple of walks, and another single saw the Mets take a 3-2 lead by the end of the fourth.
Rockies Fire Back Hard!
We weren't having any of it though! In the top of the fifth, Michael Toglia smashed a 432-foot homer to tie the game again.
The sixth inning saw Toglia go deep again with another homer, and Brenton Doyle added another solo shot. By the seventh inning, Tovar hit his second homer of the game, taking the score to 7-3! 
Strong Relief Pitching
Our bullpen was solid tonight. Justin Lawrence, Tyler Kinley, and Jake Bird all delivered strong performances. Jake Bird ended the seventh by striking out Francisco Alvarez, Pete Alonso, and Mark Vientos consecutively. Wow!
Toglia's Night to Remember
By the eighth inning, Michael Toglia wasn’t done! He hit his third homer of the game extending our lead to 8-3. The Mets tried to rally in the bottom of the eighth, scoring two more runs, but it wasn't enough. Blake Beeks and Bryce Elder closed it up beautifully.
Final Moments
The ninth inning saw a bit of tension with Mets' batters putting up a fight, but Carson Jacobs got the job done, striking out the final batter J.D. Martinez. And that was all she wrote!
