Tough Day for the Rockies 😞

Our beloved Colorado Rockies took a hard hit today against the Washington Nationals, falling 1-6. Right off the bat, things weren't looking great, despite Brenton Doyle starting strong with a double in the top of the 1st inning. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize as Ryan McMahon struck out swinging.

Costly Errors and missed opportunities

In the bottom of the 1st, a throwing error by Brendan Rodgers allowed the Nats to get James Wood safely to second. Thankfully, no runs came from it then, but little did we know, more struggles were on the horizon. The 2nd inning saw Jose Tena reach on an infield single, followed by an RBI double from Joey Gallo that brought Tena home. Our attempts to retaliate fell short as Michael Toglia got struck out looking and Nolan Jones was caught in a double play.

Rough 3rd Inning 😠

The bottom of the 3rd inning was the real backbreaker. Luis García Jr. hit a massive 419-foot homer to center, bringing in three runs and putting the Nationals ahead 5-0. We just couldn’t answer back and fell into a bigger hole.

Seventh Inning Spark 💥

A glimmer of hope came in the top of the 7th. Ryan McMahon managed to reach first base on a bunt single. Brendan Rodgers then doubled to center, allowing McMahon to score our only run of the game. However, that faint spark faded quickly, and we couldn’t get another run across.

Final Push — but not enough 😫

The Rockies attempted a rally in the 9th inning when Brenton Doyle singled to right. A wild pitch from Rainey allowed Doyle to advance to second, but Brendan Rodgers and Michael Toglia couldn’t bring him home.

It was a tough day at Nationals Park, but let’s look forward to the next game with hopes of bouncing back stronger! Keep your heads up, Rockies fans! 🌟
