A Tough Loss in Extra Innings

Hey Royals fans 🤘, it was a heartbreaker of a game today against the Tigers as we fell 3-1 in extra innings.

Early Struggles and Tied Game

The Tigers took the lead right from the start when Matt Vierling's double brought Andy Ibáñez around to score in the top of the 1st. Our boys struggled to get on base early, but that changed in the bottom of the 3rd. Kyle Isbel singled, and Bobby Witt Jr. walked twice in the first three innings. It finally paid off when Michael Massey singled in Witt Jr. to tie the game at 1-1 ⚾️.

Pitchers' Duel

It was a solid day for our pitchers overall. They kept the Tigers scoreless from the 2nd to the 8th inning. Spencer Torkelson did make some noise with a walk, but our defense held strong and turned crucial double plays to get out of jams.

Missed Opportunities

Despite several chances, we couldn't capitalize when it mattered most. In the 6th inning, we had bases loaded but failed to score. We also had a promising opportunity in the 7th inning with Tommy Pham and Witt Jr. on base, but Salvador Perez and Massey struck out 😓.

Extra Innings Trouble

The game went into extra innings tied 1-1, but that's when things went south. Wenceel Pérez doubled, and Parker Meadows singled to bring in the go-ahead run. Riley Greene's single added an insurance run to make it 3-1. Our bats went quiet in the bottom of the 10th, and we couldn't mount a comeback.

Looking Ahead

Disappointing end, but there's still plenty of baseball ahead. Let's regroup and go get 'em next time! 💪 #ForeverRoyal
