First Half: A Pitcher's Duel
Hey Padres fans! What an intense game we just had against the Royals.
The first five innings were a true pitcher's duel, with neither team able to get on the board. Both the Padres and Royals pitchers were bringing their A-game, and our defense was on point, keeping the Royals scoreless even when runners were on base. 
Despite the great pitching, the Padres' offense struggled a bit out of the gate.Mid-Inning Drama
The Royals took the lead at the top of the 6th inning when Salvador Perez blasted a two-run homer to left-center, putting them up 2-0. It was a tough moment, but the Padres responded in the 7th inning! Jackson Merrill started the rally with a double to right. After Manny Machado and Luis Arraez contributed with some key outs, a walk to Gavin Sheets and another to Xander Bogaerts loaded the bases. Jose Iglesias stepped up big time, hitting a clutch single to bring home Merrill and Sheets to tie the game at 2-2!
The Decisive Play
Both teams held each other scoreless in the 8th inning, setting up a nail-biting finish. Our boys didn't disappoint down the stretch. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Luis Arraez started the inning with a single. After Gavin Sheets was retired, Xander Bogaerts came through with a double, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Then came the man of the moment, Jose Iglesias, who grounded into a fielder's choice but it was enough to bring home the winning run! The final scoreboard read 3-2 in favor of our Padres!
