Cardinals Jump Out Early with the Long Ball 💥

Our Cardinals started strong in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Nolan Arenado launched a homer to center, traveling a solid 411 feet and putting us up 1-0. In the 3rd inning, Pedro Pages drew a walk, which set the stage for Alec Burleson to hit a 380-foot home run to right center, extending our lead to 3-0. It was an excellent start and had us all fired up!

Royals Rally to Tie the Game 🤔

The Royals came fighting back in the 5th inning. Hunter Renfroe hit a ground-rule double, and Freddy Fermin reached on an infield single, putting runners on the corners. MJ Melendez then doubled to center, clearing Renfroe off the bases, and Garrett Hampson followed with a double that scored both Fermin and Melendez, tying the game at 3-3.

Royals Take the Lead in the 6th and 8th Innings 😓

In the top of the 6th, Royals' catcher Salvador Perez crushed a 424-foot homer to center, giving the Royals a 4-3 lead. They added two more insurance runs in the 8th, thanks to Maikel Garcia scoring on a sacrifice fly and Bobby Witt Jr. being driven in by Perez again, bringing the score to 6-3.

Cardinals Show Heart in the 9th Inning ❤️

Down 6-3 entering the bottom of the 9th, Paul Goldschmidt gave us hope by hammering a 343-feet home run to right, making it 6-4. Arenado singled to left and advanced to second on fielder's indifference, but sadly, Lars Nootbaar lined out to center, ending the game at 6-4 in favor of the Royals.

Final Thoughts 🙏

Despite the loss, there were some bright spots today. Nolan Arenado and Alec Burleson both showcased their power, and Paul Goldschmidt's late homer showed the spirit and fight of our team. We need to build on these positives and come back stronger in the next game. Let's go, Cardinals! 💪⚾
