Game Los Angeles Angels @ Chicago Cubs (July 5th, 2024)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Cubs Kick Things Off Right!

The Cubs started the game strong against the Angels, with an impressive opening inning that set the tone for the rest of the game! 🐻🔵⚪️ The first two outs were quickly secured by the Angels, but then Cody Bellinger stepped up with a single to right. Moments later, Seiya Suzuki hit a bomb to center field (416 feet) bringing Bellinger home and giving the Cubs a 2-0 lead! Huge start for Suzuki! 💪 The inning ended with a strikeout by Dansby Swanson, but we were already ahead!

Angels Kept at Bay

The Angels couldn't mount any offense during the second inning as Brandon Drury and Miguel Sano both struck out. Our defense was locked in, maintaining the 2-0 lead thanks to some solid fielding and pitching. 🎯

Hustle Play from Busch!

In the third inning, Michael Busch walked and advanced to second on a groundout by Bellinger. Feeding off an Angels' balk, Busch moved to third, setting up Ian Happ for an RBI single to make it 3-0 Cubs! 🙌 Happ continued his strong performance, but Christopher Morel ended the inning striking out looking.

Cubs' Defense Shines!

Our defense stepped up again in the fourth inning after a rare fielding error by Suzuki. With the Angels getting runners on base, we pulled through without allowing any runs. Miguel Sano popped out to third, and Keston Hiura grounded out, maintaining our 3-0 cushion! 💪

Hoerner's Heroics!

The sixth inning witnessed another burst of offense for the Cubs as Tomas Nido hit a double to left. Our man Nico Hoerner came through, singling to center and allowing Nido to score, elevating our lead to 5-1 Cubs! GO, NICO! 👏👏

Lockdown Pitching Secures the Victory!

Our pitcher did a fantastic job in the final innings. Zach Neto, Kevin Pillar, and Logan O’Hoppe all grounded out or flied out, thanks to our immaculate pitching! Cubs’ defense smoothly and efficiently shut down any chances for a comeback, securing our win with an outstanding 5-1 final score! 🙌🎉

Wrap-Up

The combination of several key hits and sterling defense led us to dominate tonight. Whether it was Seiya Suzuki's crucial home run, Ian Happ driving in runs, or Nico Hoerner solidifying the victory, every play seemed to sync perfectly. Let's keep up with this momentum and go Cubs! 🐻🔵⚪
