Dodgers Fall Short Against Astros

Tough day for our boys as the Dodgers couldn’t get the bats going and fell to the Astros, 0-5. Despite a valiant effort by our defense and pitching, the Astros were relentless.

Early Innings: Missed Opportunities

We started with a promising double by Shohei Ohtani in the top of the 1st inning, but we couldn’t capitalize. Will Smith, Teoscar Hernández, and Andy Pages couldn't bring him home, and we ended the inning scoreless. 😔 In the bottom of the 2nd, the Astros got ahead with a single by Joey Loperfido bringing in Jeremy Peña.

Middle Innings: Astros Extend Their Lead

The Astros added to their lead in the 3rd inning with a solo homer from Alex Bregman and again in the 4th inning with a two-run homer by Jon Singleton. By the end of the 4th, the score was 4-0, and our bats remained surprisingly quiet. We had a few decent hits, but nothing that led to runs. 😩

Late Innings: Close, But No Cigar

In the top of the 6th, we had a glimmer of hope with Gavin Lux and Ohtani getting on base, and Smith drawing a walk to load the bases. Unfortunately, Teoscar Hernández struck out, and Pages lined out to end the threat.

Our bullpen held the Astros back until the bottom of the 8th when Mauricio Dubon doubled to score Jake Meyers, making it 5-0. Despite Ohtani's best efforts, including a stolen base in the 8th, the Astros closed it out, and we couldn't muster any offense in the 9th inning, striking out three times. 😔

Looking Forward

A tough loss, but let’s keep our heads up, Dodgers Nation! We'll regroup and come back stronger. It’s only one game, and our boys have shown their resilience time and time again. 💙⚾️ Let's get 'em next time!
