A Rough Night in St. Louis
Last night was a tough one for our Los Angeles Dodgers as they took on the St. Louis Cardinals. Despite some early momentum, the Dodgers couldn’t maintain their lead and fell to the Cardinals with a final score of 5-2.A Promising Start
We started strong in the top of the 1st! Shohei Ohtani got on base with a walk and then showed off his speed by stealing second. Mookie Betts advanced him to third with a fly out, and Freddie Freeman did his thing with a single to center, bringing home Ohtani. A great beginning with the Dodgers in the lead, 1-0.
Rocky Road Ahead
However, the Cardinals quickly responded in the bottom of the 1st inning. Alec Burleson stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, then came home on a single by Willson Contreras. The game was tied 1-1.
Burleson's Big Blow
Our troubles continued in the bottom of the 3rd. Masyn Winn singled, and Burleson followed up with a homer to right, putting the Cardinals up 3-1. This was a tough break for our pitching staff.Ohtani Shines Bright
A highlight of the game was Ohtani's solo shot to right center in the 5th inning, which brought the score to 3-2. It's always a treat to see Ohtani in action, and this homer momentarily gave us a glimmer of hope.
Cardinals Pull Away
Sadly, the Cardinals widened their lead again. Winn launched a homer to center in the bottom of the 5th, and Nolan Arenado capped their scoring with a homer to left in the 8th, leaving us behind with a score of 5-2. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t catch up.
Final Push Falls Short
Attempts to rally in the later innings fell flat. In the 9th, Jason Heyward pinch hitting for Nick Ahmed was our last hope, but he grounded out, followed by Will Smith flying out and Gavin Lux striking out to end the game.Our boys put in a good effort, but the game ultimately slipped away.
