Tough Loss for Our Royals!

Well, Royals fans, it was a nail-biter today against the Miami Marlins, but unfortunately, we came up just short in a 2-1 loss.

Strong Start in the First Inning

Our boys started off strong! Maikel Garcia drew a walk, then turned on the jets to steal both second and third. Vinnie Pasquantino came through with a clutch single to center, bringing Garcia home to put us on top 1-0. 🏃‍♂️💨 Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez couldn't capitalize further, but it was a decent start to the game.

Pitching Keeps Us in It

While the bats were relatively quiet, our pitchers did a fantastic job. The Marlins couldn't muster much against our arms, only getting players on base sporadically. Big kudos to the pitching staff for keeping us in the lead for the first six innings.

Seventh-Inning Blip

The tide turned in the seventh inning. Otto Lopez doubled to left, then advanced to third on a grounder. Nick Gordon reached on an infield single, scoring Lopez to tie the game. Then Smith had a throwing error, allowing another run. The Marlins took a 2-1 lead, which would be the final score. 😓

Late Game Drama

We had another chance in the bottom of the ninth. Salvador Perez singled to center with one out, and Dairon Blanco came in to run, stealing second to give us a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, pinch-hitter Nick Loftin lined out, and Garrett Hampson grounded out, ending our comeback hopes.

Final Thoughts

Tough loss, Royals fans, but there were some bright spots, especially early on. The pitching was solid, and we had opportunities to capitalize but just couldn't get that key hit when we needed it.

Let's regroup and get back to it! Always proud to be a Royals fan! 💙⚾
