Tough Loss in a Close Game

Fellow Reds fans, tonight was a rollercoaster of emotions as we battled against the Brewers, eventually falling 5-4. While it was a tough loss, there were moments of brilliance and heart on the field. Here’s a recap of how the game unfolded:

Early Innings and Defensive Struggles

The game began quietly with both teams unable to score in the first two innings. Unfortunately, an error by Elly De La Cruz in the top of the 2nd opened the door for the Brewers. Despite this, Willy Adames’ three-run homer off Buck Farmer in the 3rd put us in a 3-0 hole. Our defense had some shaky moments but we managed to limit further damage—props to Buchanan and Farmer for that!

Mid-Game Rally

Our bats came alive in the 5th inning. Will Benson and Noelvi Marte set the stage with back-to-back walks and singles. Spencer Steer then stepped up to deliver a crucial two-run single, cutting their lead to 3-2. However, the Brewers responded immediately in the 6th, extending their lead to 4-2. Not to be outdone, Amed Rosario blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game at 4-4! 🥳

Nail-Biting Finish

Entering the 9th inning, the game was tied, and it was anyone’s for the taking. The Brewers' Jackson Chourio then hit a solo homer off Lucas Sims, putting them back on top 5-4. We had our chances in the bottom of the 9th with Tyler Stephenson and Elly De La Cruz on base, but we just couldn’t push the tying run across. Ty France grounded out to end the game, and we just came up short. 😞

Final Thoughts

Despite the loss, there were positive takeaways. The late rally showed our team’s resilience, and Amed Rosario’s home run was a bright spot. The bullpen, although faltering slightly, hung in there for most of the game. We’ll get them next time, Reds fans! Let’s stay hopeful and keep supporting our team through thick and thin. 💪👊

Next game, let’s bring that W home! Go Reds! 🚩
