Game Minnesota Twins @ Chicago Cubs (August 6th, 2024)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Dominant First Inning Sets the Tone

What a fantastic start for our Cubs! In the bottom of the 1st inning, Seiya Suzuki got things rolling with a single to left. He was soon followed by Cody Bellinger, who reached on an infield single. That advanced Suzuki to third thanks to a throwing error by the Twins' second baseman, Brooks Lee. Then, the big moment came when Isaac Paredes stepped up to the plate and crushed a 364-foot homer to left, bringing home Suzuki and Bellinger. We jumped to a 3-0 lead and never looked back! 😎

Pitching Dominance and Stellar Defense

Our pitchers were simply lights out today! The Twins couldn't get anything going in the early innings. They were consistently shut down, with multiple strikeouts, including a perfect top of the 3rd inning where the Twins’ batters went down swinging left and right. Nico Hoerner's incredible defense in the 4th inning, maneuvering slick steals and plays, capped off a stellar showing for our infield. Our boys were determined not to let the Twins get a foothold, and they succeeded magnificently. 🔥

Cubs' Bats Stay Hot

The Cubs consistently kept up the pressure. In the bottom of the 3rd, Michael Busch walked, and although Cody Bellinger was lined out, Isaac Paredes once again hit a crucial single, bringing Busch home. The bottom of the 6th inning saw more excitement when Dansby Swanson tripled to right, allowing Hoerner to score. Swanson himself then scored on a wild pitch, extending our lead to 6-2. The bats were on fire! 🔥🔥🔥

Twins Fight Back – But Not Enough!

The Twins tried to claw their way back. Carlos Santana and Royce Lewis gave it their all in the 4th inning, with Lewis hitting a home run to bring the Twins within two runs, but that was the closest they got. Christian Vázquez also managed to hit a solo homer in the 8th inning, but our dominating pitchers and rock-solid defense quickly sealed off any potential threats. No way we were going to let them back in! 💪

Cubs Finish Strong

Our boys made sure there was no chance of a Twins comeback. In the bottom of the 8th, though Cody Bellinger and Isaac Paredes were both out, Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson delivered clutch singles. Pete Crow-Armstrong then added an insurance run with a single to left, bringing Hoerner home. The game ended fittingly with Carlos Santana striking out swinging, and the final score solidly at 7-3. Cubs win!

Conclusion

It was an excellent game for the Cubs. From strong pitching performances to timely hitting, the team showed why they’re a team to be reckoned with. Here’s to more games like this! Go Cubs! 🐻💙
