Heartbreaker in Detroit: Twins Top Tigers 9-3
Hey Tigers fans, it was a tough one at Comerica Park today as the Minnesota Twins took us down 9-3.
Let's break down what happened.Early Setbacks
The game started off rough for us. In the top of the 1st, Byron Buxton smacked a homer to left-center, followed quickly by Trevor Larnach's homer to right-center. That put us in an early 2-0 hole. Our bats were silent in the bottom half of the inning.Buxton and Company Extend the Lead
The top of the 2nd saw more trouble for our defense. Matt Wallner added to the Twins' lead with a solo homer, followed by a single from Brooks Lee and another from Christian Vázquez. Thankfully, the inning ended with Buxton’s strikeout. But by then, the Twins were up 3-0.Báez Provides a Spark
In the bottom of the 3rd, we had a moment of hope! After Carson Kelly was hit by a pitch, Javier Báez crushed a homer to left-center, cutting the lead to 3-2. It felt like we were back in it!
Mid-Game Woes
Things fell apart in the 4th inning. Errors by Colt Keith allowed Matt Wallner and Christian Vázquez to score, followed by a double from Buxton that scored Willi Castro. The Twins made it 6-2, and we couldn’t string anything together to respond. Ugh!
Sixth Inning Setback
If it wasn’t bad enough, Vázquez hit a two-run homer off Wentz in the 6th. By then, the scoreboard showed 8-2 in favor of the Twins, and it felt like a steep hill to climb.Late-Game Attempts
The 7th inning saw a brief glimmer of hope when Matt Vierling doubled and later moved to third on Bligh Madris's single. But we couldn't capitalize. In the 8th, Madris gave us something to cheer about, singling to center to score Mark Canha, making it 8-3.Final Inning Falls Flat
The 9th inning saw another run from the Twins due to wild pitches and walks. We had some fight left with Gio Urshela reaching on an infield single, but it wasn’t enough. Andy Ibáñez, pinch-hitting for Wenceel Perez, flew out to center, and Justyn-Henry Malloy struck out looking to end it.Looking Ahead
