The second inning was off to an electrifying start when Pete Alonso homered to right center, launching us ahead with a 383-feet rocket. That was just the beginning, and it certainly set the pace.We then witnessed some heads-up base running when Jeff McNeil grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing J.D. Martinez to score thanks to some shoddy defense from Arizona's side.

Francisco Alvarez singled to bring home Jeff McNeil, and then a cascade of hits followed! Francisco Lindor, Mark Vientos, Brandon Nimmo, and J.D. Martinez all contributed, driving in run after run. Highlights include Vientos’ clutch RBI and Jesse Winker hitting a sacrifice fly to add another.A pitching change for the Diamondbacks didn't slow us down either; Tyrone Taylor was hit by a pitch, pushing Vientos home. McNeil drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in another run, and a costly fielding error by shortstop Geraldo Perdomo allowed Martinez to score, bringing our total to an impressive eight runs in the inning. Smiles all around!
Strong Pitching Holds Off D-Backs
Our pitchers were phenomenal, rendering the Diamondbacks' offense powerless for the majority of the game. By the time Arizona's Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Corbin Carroll hit their homers in the seventh, it felt like too little, too late. Hats off to them, but our pitchers had already done the damage control.A special shoutout to Adam Ottavino who shut the door in the ninth, ensuring there would be no further scoring from Arizona.
