Tough Day in Chicago for Our Mets 
Hey Mets fans! Well, it wasn’t the day we hoped for as we faced off against the Chicago Cubs. The final score was a tough 3-10 defeat. Let's dive into what went down.
Early Struggles and a Pitching Battle 
Our beloved Francisco Lindor started us off in the top of the 1st inning, but unfortunately, fouled out to first. Juan Soto grounded out, and Pete Alonso struck out swinging. Not the start we wanted, but we kept faith! In the bottom of the inning, the Cubs took an early lead with Michael Busch being thrown out at home; however, it didn't deter them as they managed to put a run on the board.
A Four-Run Blitz in the 3rd 
Things got tricky in the 3rd inning as the Cubs piled on four more runs. Despite a solid strikeout by Happ, the Cubs found their groove, and a series of hits made it tough on our pitchers. Ian Happ, Moises Ballesteros, and Seiya Suzuki all contributed to Chicago's early onslaught.
Fifth Inning Power by Alvarez and Soto's Late Homer 
Our Mets gave us hope in the top of the 5th when Francisco Alvarez blasted a homer to left, bringing in Mark Vientos, and cutting the Cubs' lead to 6-2. Later, in the 8th inning, Juan Soto showcased his power with a bomb to center for another Mets run, but it wasn't enough to overturn the Cubs' lead.
Cubs Extend Lead, Mets' Comeback Falls Short 
The Cubs extended their lead to 10-2 after a two-run homer by Michael Busch in the bottom of the 6th. Our bullpen worked hard to control the damage, but the Cubs' offense was relentless. Despite our attempts at a comeback, including a well-fought 8th inning homer from Soto, the Cubs kept us at bay, closing the game at 10-3.
