Tough Night in Cincinnati

It wasn’t quite the outcome we were hoping for, fellow Mets fans, as we took on the Cincinnati Reds last night. Our boys struggled to find their rhythm at the plate and the Reds capitalized on their opportunities, ending the game with a loss for our Mets, 3-6. 😟

Early Attempts and Reds Capitalization

We got things started in the first with a promising single from Francisco Lindor, but his attempt to steal second was thwarted. Juan Soto looked to keep the momentum going, but unfortunately struck out. Brandon Nimmo managed a walk, yet Pete Alonso grounded into a fielder's choice. Our offense struggled to fully ignite in these early innings.

The Reds did not waste time when Sal Stewart launched a homer in the second, bringing in what would be their first two runs, and in the third, a solo home run by Matt McLain made it 3-1. Austin Hays added to their tally with another solo shot in the fourth.

Fighting Back

Despite the early setbacks, Cedric Mullins managed to get on base with a walk, stealing second afterward. A strategic sac fly from Brandon Nimmo in the 3rd inning allowed Mullins to score, putting us on the scoreboard! Later in the 7th, Jared Young came in as a pinch-hitter and smashed a homer to bring us closer at 4-2. Even as the Reds continued to stretch the lead with a couple more runs, we didn't back down!

Missed Opportunities

We had our chances but just couldn’t convert enough. In the 9th inning, Lindor doubled and was later brought home on a wild pitch. A single from Soto gave us hope, advancing Lindor to third, but our charge fell short when both Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso struck out swinging, sealing the Reds' victory. 😩

Our Mets will need to shake this one off and come back stronger! Let’s show them some love and support ⚾💙.
