Game Overview
What a thrilling game it was as our beloved Cincinnati Reds took on the New York Mets, delivering us a rather intense 3-2 victory!
Pitching Dominance
The game started with both teams' pitchers putting down the opposition batter after batter. Our pitching staff was absolutely on fire!
Reds Break the Ice
The bottom of the 4th saw the Reds getting their first run courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Austin Hays which brought Noelvi Marte home after he made an impressive steal to second and clever advancement to third. Our Reds tied up the game, getting us back in the game and setting the stage for an exciting finish!
Taking the Lead
The 6th inning propelled us ahead with an exciting sequence of plays. Elly De La Cruz doubled to center-field, bringing Marte home again. Right after, Hays stepped up and singled to bring De La Cruz in, making it 3-1 in our favor. De La Cruz was on fire today, both with his bat and his speed on the bases!
Clutch Defense
Despite a powerful homer by Juan Soto in the 9th that drew the Mets within a run, our defense stood its ground. There was a bit of drama when a throwing error allowed Pete Alonso to reach base, but it was quickly erased with a clutch double play to end the game. Our guys pulled through under pressure, sealing the win for Cincinnati!
Final Thoughts
While it wasn't the easiest win, it's always special to see the Reds secure a victory, especially in such close matches. These are the games that grow our excitement and belief in our team.
