Disappointing Finish for the Mets in a Close Game Against the Angels

Mets fans, this one was tough to swallow 😞. We had a strong start, but things fell apart in crucial moments, leading to a narrow 5-4 loss to the Angels.

Early Inning Struggles

In the top of the 1st inning, we hoped to get on the board early, but the Angels' defense shut us down. Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo couldn't find a way past the infield, and after J.D. Martinez's single and Pete Alonso's walk, Jesse Winker struck out swinging.

The Angels struck first in the bottom of the 1st with Kevin Pillar driving in Zach Neto, making it 1-0.

Grinding Through the Middle Innings

Our bats remained relatively quiet through the middle innings, despite Jeff McNeil and Lindor finding some success. By the end of the 5th, we were still looking for our first run while the Angels extended their lead to 2-0 thanks to Matt Thaiss and Zach Neto.

The Big Comeback... Almost!

Top of the 7th was our moment! McNeil walked and Lindor singled, loading the bases after a pitching change. J.D. Martinez then crushed a homer to center, giving us a 4-2 lead 🎉. It was electric!

However, the bottom of the 7th was a nightmare. Stefanic singled, Nolan Schanuel walked, and Neto hit a devastating 3-run homer off Brazoban. The Angels retook the lead 5-4.

Wrapping Up the Game

We had our chances in the 8th and 9th innings but couldn't capitalize. Luis Torrens grounded out with Iglesias on third, and Lindor, Nimmo, and Martinez couldn't stage a final-inning rally.

Kudos to the guys for fighting back, especially that 7th inning surge. We'll bounce back from this and get the win next time. Let's go Mets! 💪🔵🟠

Looking forward to the next game – we've got this! 👏⚾
