Mets Offense Struggles in 6-0 Loss to Brewers
Hey Mets fans... this one was rough.
The Brewers took down our boys with a 6-0 shutout, proving once again that sometimes, it's just not our night. Here's a breakdown of the game.Early Innings: Missed Opportunities
The Mets had some opportunities early on, but couldn't capitalize. Francisco Lindor struck out in the 1st inning, setting a bit of a tone for the game. Jose Iglesias got a single in the same inning, but both Mark Vientos and Brandon Nimmo failed to bring him home. So close, yet so far.
Pitching Keeps Us in the Game... for a While
Both teams were scoreless until the 4th inning. Our pitching staff did well initially, with Hoskins, Sánchez, Collins, and Ortiz all going down without much trouble. But the Brewers got on the board in the bottom of the 4th with two runs. It was tough to see Joey Ortiz sneaking in that single to score two.
Struggles at the Plate
We had a chance in the 5th inning when Starling Marte hit a ground-rule double, but then Luis Torrens, Harrison Bader, and Luisangel Acuña couldn’t bring him home. It felt like every inning we'd get one guy on base just to see our hopes dashed.
Brewers Seal the Deal
The dagger came in the 8th inning when the Brewers exploded for four more runs. Adames scored on a single, followed by Contreras and Bauers, culminating in Monasterio's single to bring Ortiz and Bauers home. At that point, it was clear the game had slipped away.
Final Thoughts
We ended the game with Lindor grounding out, Iglesias walking, Vientos grounding into a fielder's choice, and Nimmo grounding out to first. The Brewers' pitching was strong, and our bats just couldn't get it done.Here's to hoping for a better performance next game! Keep the faith, Mets fans! Let's get 'em next time!
