Tough Loss for the Phillies Against the Mets 😔

Last night's game was a tough one for our Philadelphia Phillies as they fell 11-3 to the New York Mets. It started off as a pitcher's duel, but things quickly got out of hand in the 5th inning.

Strong Start but Silent Bats 😬

For the first four innings, both teams' pitchers kept the score 0-0. Bryce Harper doubled in the bottom of the 1st, but unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize. Nice to see Nick Castellanos and J.T. Realmuto making solid contacts, but nothing converted into runs.

5th Inning Collapse 😓

Our troubles began in the top of the 5th. The Mets exploded with six runs, highlighted by a three-run homer from Francisco Alvarez and a three-run shot by Brandon Nimmo. Aaron Nola was looking solid until then but couldn't get out of the inning, and a call to the bullpen saw Ruiz stepping in.

Additional Mets Insurance Runs 😡

The 6th and 8th innings added four more runs for the Mets, including a 410-ft bomb by Bader. It was difficult to watch as our bullpen couldn't seem to stop the bleeding. And then in the 9th, Pete Alonso hit a solo shot to add insult to injury, making it 11-0.

Late Show of Resilience 💪

Despite being down 11-0, our Phillies didn't go down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th. Kyle Schwarber walked, and after Cal Stevenson struck out, Harper walked to put two men on. Then Brandon Marsh stepped up and launched a three-run homer to avoid the shutout. It was a bit of consolation, but we still finished the game at 11-3.

Looking Forward 🤞

It wasn't our night, but the season is long, and we have plenty of opportunities to bounce back. Let's keep our heads up and look forward to the next game. Go Phillies! ⚾❤️
