A Tough Day at PNC Park

Hey Mets fans, it was a rough game for us at PNC Park against the Pirates. The final score was an ugly 2-14 in favor of Pittsburgh. Here's a quick recap of how things went down.

Early Promise, but Quick Collapse

The game started with some hope. Jeff McNeil hit a solo homer in the 3rd inning to give us an early lead. We managed to score another run in the 4th inning when Pete Alonso doubled and eventually scored on an infield grounder, putting us up 2-0. Things were looking good!

Pirates Power Surge

But everything went downhill fast. Rowdy Tellez and Jack Suwinski hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game. The 5th inning saw Bryan Reynolds hit a two-run homer, and the Pirates never looked back from there. By the time the 8th inning rolled around, it felt like they were hitting home runs at will.

Late Game Carnage

The Pirates tacked on six more runs in the 7th inning alone, with Bryan Reynolds hitting his second homer of the game, this time a grand slam. The 8th inning was just as painful, with Yasmani Grandal and Michael A. Taylor hitting solo shots and Rowdy Tellez finishing us off with another grand slam. The final score? A brutal 14-2.

Bright Spots and Looking Ahead

There wasn't much to cheer for today, aside from Jeff McNeil's homer and a solid double from Pete Alonso. The rest of the lineup struggled mightily against the Pirates' pitching. We need to regroup and focus on the next game. Let's hope the bats come alive and the pitching staff can tighten things up. 😓

Let's shake this one off and get ready for the next game. Let's Go Mets! 💙🧡⚾
