Game Summary: Mets @ Mariners (0-6)
Well, that was a rough one for us Mets fans.
Last night's game against the Mariners certainly didn't go as we hoped. Despite some efforts from our key players, we just couldn't get things going offensively, and the Mariners took full advantage.First Inning Woes
It started off with some promise as Brandon Nimmo walked, but we quickly fell flat with Francisco Lindor, Jesse Winker, and Pete Alonso all failing to make significant contact. The Mariners also couldn’t break through despite Randy Arozarena getting on base with a walk and Justin Turner being hit by a pitch.
Second Inning Breakdown
In the bottom of the second inning, things took a turn for the worse. After Mitch Haniger singled, Ryan Bliss hit a two-run homer to left center, putting the Mariners up 2-0. Our bats stayed quiet except for a double from Mark Vientos, but Francisco Alvarez couldn't bring him home.
Missed Opportunities
We had a couple of chances to claw back into the game. In the third inning, Nimmo doubled but was left stranded. In the fourth, Jeff McNeil singled but our struggles continued as Vientos flied out, ending any threat to score.
Seventh Inning Disaster
Things fell apart in the seventh inning. After J.D. Martinez walked and McNeil singled, Vientos grounded into a double play. In the bottom of the seventh, the Mariners piled on with Moore and Rivas both bringing in runs, extending their lead to 6-0. Adam Ottavino came in to relieve Jose Quintana, but the damage was already done.
The Final Push
In the eighth inning, Lindor and Winker managed to get on base, but Alonso struck out looking, ending our hopes for a late-game rally. A. Young kept the Mariners scoreless in the eighth, giving us a sliver of hope in the ninth inning. However, despite a double from Martinez, we couldn't bring him home.
Tough Loss, Mets Fans
Final score: 6-0 in favor of the Mariners. It's a tough loss, but we'll keep our heads high and look forward to the next game. Let's regroup and come back stronger!
