Frustrating Night for the Cardinals

Well, fellow Cardinals fans, it was a tough one to watch tonight. Facing the New York Mets, we couldn't quite get anything going and fell 6-0. 😔 Here's a breakdown of tonight's game.

Early Struggles

The game started off with our bats looking silent. Masyn Winn and Tommy Pham both couldn't get on base in the bottom of the 1st. It felt like a déjà vu in the 2nd inning when Paul Goldschmidt struck out looking, and although Nolan Arenado gave us some hope with a double, we couldn't capitalize. 😕

To make matters worse, the Mets managed to score in the 2nd inning due to a wild pitch by Pallante, leading to Pete Alonso scoring.

Mid-Game Misfortune

The 5th inning really shifted the game out of our reach. Pallante struggled, giving up a series of hits including a bases-clearing double by Tyrone Taylor that sent three runs home, putting us down 5-0.

Despite a few scattered hits by Alec Burleson and Brendan Donovan, and a bit of base-running luck in getting Winn to steal second, we couldn't drive in the runs we desperately needed. The Mets tacked on another run in the 6th with a homer by Jeff McNeil to extend their lead to 6-0.

Silenced Offense

Our bats were silent through the last stretch of the game. Despite some moments of opportunity - like Willson Contreras walking in the 8th and Victor Scott II reaching on an error in the 7th - we just couldn't knock any runs in.

Nolan Arenado's strikeout in the 9th inning felt like the final nail in the coffin.

Final Thoughts

It wasn't the best night for our Cardinals. The Mets' pitching was solid and we struggled to find our rhythm.

Let's keep our heads up, Cards fans! On to the next game. We'll bounce back from this one! 💪⚾

As always, Go Cards! ❤️🖤
