Tough Loss in Extras: Yankees Fall to Tigers 3-2

Fellow Yankees fans, it's always tough to swallow a loss, especially one that comes in extra innings. We saw some strong moments today, but ultimately fell to the Tigers 3-2. 😢

Early Game Struggles

In the first few innings, our bats were largely silent. Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto both grounded out in the 1st, while Aaron Judge struck out swinging. Giancarlo Stanton managed a single in the 2nd inning but was left stranded. Our pitching did a great job keeping the game scoreless though, and Marcus Stroman worked us out of a couple of tight spots.

Breaking the Deadlock

We finally broke through in the 6th. Gleyber Torres drew a walk and advanced on a groundout. He then crossed home plate thanks to a wild pitch by the Tigers' Skubal. Our boys had the lead at 1-0, and it looked promising! However, the Tigers managed to level the score in the bottom of the 9th. Spencer Torkelson struck out, but Colt Keith's double and Jace Jung's single tied it up.

Heartbreak in Extra Innings

In the top of the 10th, DJ LeMahieu gave us hope with a single to center, scoring Anthony Volpe and putting us back in front 2-1. But alas, the bottom of the 10th proved our undoing. Zach McKinstry hit for Jake Rogers and singled to score the tying run. Then, Parker Meadows hit a walk-off single, and the Tigers won 3-2.

Final Score: 3-2 in favor of the Tigers. Highlights included some great pitching and clutch hitting, but today wasn't our day. Here's hoping for a better result in the next game. 💪⚾

Yankees, we still love you. Let's come back stronger!
