Tough Loss to Astros

Hey there, Athletics fans. Unfortunately, it wasn't our night as the A’s fell to the Astros 6-3. Let's break down the game.

Struggle at the Start

The game started with a bit of a mess when Lawrence Butler reached first on a throwing error. But we couldn't capitalize on it. We had some sparks with Brent Rooker stealing second and Shea Langeliers drawing a walk, but ultimately, we left the top of the 1st inning scoreless. On the other hand, our boys on defense managed to keep the Astros in check early, with Yainer Diaz and Kyle Tucker being the only threats.

Astros Strike First

In the bottom of the 2nd, the Astros took the lead with a two-run homer by Jason Heyward. We were down 2-0, but our pitchers managed to limit the damage.

Middle Innings Misses

We tried to get things going offensively but couldn’t find a rhythm. Butler doubled in the 3rd, and JJ Bleday doubled in the 6th, but we couldn’t bring them home. Meanwhile, our pitching held the Astros at bay, keeping them at 2-0 through six innings.

Late Game Drama

The top of the 7th looked promising. Jacob Wilson doubled, and Daz Cameron singled him home, cutting the deficit to 2-1. We hit a snag when Seth Brown grounded into a double play to end the rally.

In the 8th, Rooker blasted a homer to center, tying the game at 2. But the Astros weren't done yet. They scored four in the bottom of the 8th, making it 6-2. Highlights included an RBI single by Jon Singleton and a two-run single by Mauricio Dubón.

A Glimmer of Hope

Tyler Nevin gave us a glimmer of hope in the 9th inning with a solo homer, but it wasn’t enough. The final score stood at 6-3 in favor of the Astros.

Final Thoughts

It was a tough game, but there were bright spots like Butler's consistency and Rooker’s homer. Let's keep our heads up and look forward to the next game. Go A’s! ☠️⚾
